After the amendments, foreign nationals are allowed to be registered only at the address where they are actually living in. This means that the employers acting as host parties are not allowed to register foreign employees to the company address unless the employee is actually staying at the company premises, which is equipped for sleep and rest. The changes cover foreign nationals permanently staying and working in Russia as well as their family members. It affects foreign nationals already residing at the country as well as those entering the country for the first time. With the new migration rules in force the responsible party in registering the foreign national is the property owner. In case of violations of the law, sanctions will be imposed. Fines range between 2,000 rubles for individuals to 500,000 rubles for companies. Those who breach migration rules are also at risk of being deported.
